Dave Garets, Board Member at Genelex, former HIMSS Analytics CEO
Even though Mike Davis, executive vice president of HIMSS Analytics during the time I was president and CEO, and I were experienced writers, the volume of our work led us to hire Kevin Featherly initially to take all the raw material Mike generated from the HIMSS Analytics Database, to create the "Essentials of the US Hospital IT Market" document. It was Kevin’s job to do the editing, which in some cases meant fairly significant rewrites to be useable to a broader audience. Then he transplanted them to InDesign, laid them out and produced high-quality tables and graphs based on the PowerPoint slides that the crew at HIMSS Analytics had generated. That required quite a bit of finessing and rework to make them look good, because it was not possible to simply use the PowerPoint slides.
He was responsible for gathering all the relevant documents and graphical materials, written by Mike, organizing them, then reformatting them using what are now known as Adobe's Creative Suite applications, to turn them from ugly Word documents into a professionally designed and edited end product. The project, over time, evolved from being a relatively brief year-end market survey that was distributed on paper, to an all-electronic document which might well have been the world's most comprehensive market survey on digital health information technologies. Our last one was 22 chapters long, included chapters on the EMR Adoption Model, financial decision support and a Signposts chapter that predicted the direction of the HIT marketplace and the political and regulatory environment it was expected to operate in over time.
What Kevin did well was to manage a massive and voluminous project under extremely tight deadline pressures and produce documents that were sharp, effective presentations of information that HIMSS Analytics clients viewed as critical to their work.
We also engaged him to write, layout and design some pretty nice white papers and case studies (e.g., several leadership papers at the end of '05; the "EMR Sophistication Correlates to Hospital Quality Data" paper in '06, and several others. He also coauthored a big article that got published in the Canadian journal "Electronic Healthcare" in 2007).
Kevin does very nice work, not just in authoring white papers, but in designing the content and graphics to appeal to the reader. I highly recommend him.

Dan Heilman, Owner/independent writer and editor at Daniel S. Heilman LLC
For a number of years, Kevin was the primary source of profiles and features for the Capitol Life section of Capitol Report newspaper. I edited that section and found Kevin's work to be uniformly well-reported and strongly written. Moreover, he was punctual, reliable and eager to work. I would not hesitate to use him again in a similar capacity.

I hired Kevin to research and analyze one of the most difficult decision processes in the New Media industry: how to evaluate the success or failure of a new product. We gave the chapter in the "Audience Planbook" the half-joking working title of "Hold 'Em/Fold 'Em," but the work Kevin did was dead serious. He drew on a deep well of hands-on experience with how web-based news companies can (or should) function, and an amazing list of high-level contacts. Throughout it all, he maintained his cheerful sense of humor, and was open to editing suggestions.
Elsa Rosenberg, Information Technology and Services Consultant and Contractor, former project manager, Xtreme Consulting Group
I have contracted Kevin to work on various projects during the past nine years, and his integrity and quality of work have never disappointed me! Kevin is a quick study on almost any subject matter and his interviewing skills are superlative. Kevin has a remarkable talent for storytelling and can produce engaging articles, blogs, and papers based on his in-depth research and interviews. Moreover, Kevin has always been enthusiastic about his writing and open to new topics to dive into. And last, but certainly not least, he always meets his deadlines. I look forward to working with Kevin on future endeavors!

I always appreciated Kevin's journalist skills and his ability to deliver an interesting technology story from what many consider an intimidating industry sector. His interest in new developments was contagious and he delivered stories that were well-written, clean and on deadline
Jason Primuth, Executive Vice President at NextGen Reporting, former executve producer, Internet Broadcasting System
I hired Kevin in 1996 as one of our first writers/editors, and he turned out to be a perfect fit. He had a great blend of traditional journalistic ethics and skills, a great understanding of what we could do with this rapidly evolving medium, and a great dose of creativity to push the boundaries of what we could offer to readers. Since then, I've enjoyed watching/reading what he's created as he's had those same great blend of skills
